Today is your day to be awesome.
Your success or failure yesterday has no bearing on today. It’s not who you were yesterday. It’s about who you’re fighting to be.
And you? You’re fighting to be awesome.
So today is your day.
- Take your kids on a spontaneous trip to the ice cream shop.
- Sit and read books and drink hot cocoa.
- Build the worlds biggest fort *with* your children.
- Have a dance party.
- Pray for an hour.
- Run as far as you can.
- Create something.
- Encourage every person you talk to today.
- Buy a giant bucket of chalk and color your driveway or fence with your kids.
Today ANYTHING is possible. The next 24 hours are a blank canvas. Go fill them with something awesome.
{Cue the song Eye of the Tiger}

Thanks Kat! I needed that:)
I so needed this post today… after a solid week of the unexpected (and not all that positive) in every day, I needed a reminder that I *can* still be awesome. π And, just thought you’d like to know, I have Eye of the Tiger in my iTunes, and am playing it right now. π
Kristin,
You get serious bonus points for having that song in your iTunes library. π
What a LOVELY perspective, and just what I needed to hear =)
I needed this so badly today! I just an EPIC fail of a morning and put the kids down early for their nap. You know those days where their littleness is just about ready to drive you mental in every way??? I needed a breather and now I’m hoping we can start fresh when they wake up!! Thanks Kat π
Katie,
Whether you were able to start fresh after their nap or not, I’m praying that today is filled with awesome for you.
Thanks Kat. Wow, I REALLY needed to hear that today. Particularly today. You are so wonderfully affirming and truthful. I feel so much less than awesome most of the time… (wiping my eyes!) π
Love it!
We played that song in Jr. High School Band.
It rocked! π
Stacey,
A high school band playing Eye of the Tiger? I don’t think it gets much better than that. See you in a few weeks!
I seriously love you! I don’t mean to be creepy, but who thought we could feel such encouragement and love for/from someone we’ve never met. This is totally making me cry and I can’t even articulate why. And I love any 80s reference you can throw out there – thanks for making me laugh too…

If I encouraged you AND made you laugh, well that’s just the double whammy of blog posts. Thank *you* for the encouragement!
Yes! I love it. Side walk chalk. After naptime we’re going out to the sidewalk and drawing. I had actually been considering that idea all morning but thought I was too busy for it… This post was a gentle nudge in the right direction.
I think I might just print this off and read it to myself every morning. Thank you for the encouragement.
You’re very welcome Christy!
GREAT idea!
Yeah, I need this every day. But today, thanks to the first day of fall and our traditions, it came a little easier. Tomorrow is a new day, a new opportunity.
well that was awesome!! π
Thank you so much for your enthusiastic encouragement!

I made my husband feel like a superhero today by talking him into taking the kids to an amusement park today. Sometimes it feels just as great giving someone else the opportunity to be awesome…thanks for the encouraging words!
