I am declaring today a snowday and spending the day decorating our home for Christmas…
I took action this week!
This week I wrote goals for the month. I got up early a few times. I read books with my baby girl. I offered my husband a back massage. I prayed for God to help me succeed in my role as a wife and a mother, but not to feel defined by my success or failure in it, and instead to find my identity in being a child of His.

We have never celebrated Advent together as a family, but we started last week even though it’s not fancy and really homemade/cheap – read a prophecy, light a candle, sing a hymn (try!), and tell a joke 🙂 Simple.
I took action this week!
I took my kids out for a special lunch date. 🙂
I got up early this morning and had my quiet time, made my eldest’s lunch for school and got breakfast ready for me and my girls. We are also celebrating advent with the Jesse Tree from Ann Voskamp and we are loving it!
My husband and I are taking decisive steps to make our Christmas purposeful and Christ-focused. We started doing an Advent wreath and made plans for how we’ll handle Santa Claus and gifts for our family & Jesus this year. I’m really excited about taking initiative to keep our Christmas from being all about material presents and Santa! I hope our plans help our kids (and us) learn to love giving and putting Jesus first!

I took action this week!
I am writing a mission statement for my family that I am going to have framed. I want it to be up somewhere where it can be read for encouragement, reminders, wisdom, and anything else that can be taught from it. (Of course it is using mostly God’s Word so it’s His wisdom, not mine.)
I’m sticking with a simple exercise routine, every morning.
I made a menu plan, two weeks in a row! I had a quiet time before the kids got up, even though it was small. And now I’m going to put away ALL the groceries as soon as I bring them in (usually the non-refrigerated stuff stays on the counter until I try to cook dinner and can’t find anything!)
I took action this week!
This week I started reading Sheila Walsh’s book (that I won here!!!). I don’t have any spare mintues in my day at home so I started reading it on my breaks at work. It is a great book! Thanks!

I got up early today and had my Bible time. Also planned meals for the week. And went to the store to stock up on Sprite and Pedialyte, and Lysol. My husband got sick during the night, so I am anticipating a house full of sickies by the end of the week.
My third day in a row getting up at 5:30 to meet with God…and I am loving it!!
Sunday I planned meals for the week – went grocery shopping. This morning got up early and read from the Bible…spend time with my son (11mos) – prepared breakfast and lunch for my daughter before getting her off to school and me to work. Having that extra time in the morning makes a world of difference…I get stuff done and have a peace about me.

I took action this week.
I got up early and read His Word.
I took my kids on a spontaneous-miss-the-nap outing to see our town’s parade yesterday afternoon while my man was working, making me rockstarish in their little eyes. (I’ll take what I can get!) When we got home we all put on our pj’s and watched a movie together. Fun times.
[…] YES! I did take action […]
GREAT quiet time, most of our meals planned, and a surprise date with my oldest sipping hot chocolate & cutting out paper snowflakes. Oh, and making fun of paper napkin folding that results in a rose that looks like a mini-roll of toilet paper on a stick but was *very* cool nonetheless.
(was that too much to share in the comments? oops…)
I took action this week! 🙂
Even when I haven’t gotten up earlier than my two early bird babies, I set them up to play in their room while I hang out with the Lord and do my devotional and Bible reading (and coffee drinking!). I also ran today for the first time in a couple of weeks. I’m feeling good.
I just subscribed to this blog last week. I am new to the whole blogging scene. I am a mother of a three year old and a one year old. I truely believe that God is using this blog in my life right now! I am “inspired” and “acting” on it! Step number one I’ve committed to getting up early and making the most of my morning! I am only four days into it, but hey that’s a start. Step two, make my mission statement. Thanks again for the practical tips.
A friend just told me about your blog last week and it has re-inspired me and a couple of close girlfriends to get back to starting our day with purpose. Starting today, we sent a text to each other at 5:30 am to get up, work out, get ready and spend our time with the Lord before the kids get up and the day gets going. It was amazing and I feel SO good! Can’t wait to see how the Lord blesses when we obey and start our day with Him!

If I’m not too late… I did take action this week! I’ve figured out a better routine for both girls during the day, so that I don’t have to rely on my husband so much who’se, ahem, working, ya know…. (DD2 is currently 2½ months, DD1 is 2.5 yrs). And I’m making sure I take the time each day to read my Advent daily devotions too.
