Today is Motivation Monday! Tell us in the comments if you’ve taken action and get a chance to win today’s giveaway which is a copy of Sally Clarkson’s amazing book Ministry of Motherhood!
The premise of the book is to teach moms how to teach and minister to their children using the example Christ set with his disciples. I had the pleasure of meeting Sally Clarkson this week and was deeply inspired by her wisdom and passion to mentor young mothers.
Get all the details at the end of the post and find out who won last week’s prize.

(not WHY I do the action…hehe)
I have been focusing on intentional time with each child. I can easily get so wrapped up with what I “need” to do, and miss them in the process.
God has been good in continuing this shift in my heart, from tasks to people.
I took action this week
..and I think most of the action was mental.
I have been taking baby steps and beating myself up because my progress wasn’t big enough or fast enough. Today, I am celebrating, though!
I woke up earlier than the kids, even if it was only 10 minutes. I also started exercising again, even if it was only 2 times. But instead of focusing on the “even if” part, my action is celebrating the progress!

Funny. My action this week is that I just started reading “the mission of motherhood” by Sally Clarkson this morning prior to reading this post.
I actually read this once before, when my oldest was still a baby. Decided it was time to revisit it (I don’t read too many books twice so you know it was good)
Would love to have “the sequel”.
My action step this week is choosing to not use my computer while my daughter is awake, so that I am choosing to spend that time with her, investing in her life!
This book looks awesome, and I’d love to hear about more mothering/parenting book recommendations you have.
I took action this week!
I took action this week! Woke up on time today and started my morning off right 🙂
I got up early today, read my Bible, prayed and exercised!! I’ve been doing this since Thursday, and I have been LOVING it!! By 9am I had finished more than I usually do in a whole day, and I was in such a much better mood because I started with prayer and the Word!
I also worked on my mission statement yesterday.
I’m hoping that as I get into the groove of this, and get caught up on all the chores long neglected since baby #2 came, I’ll be able to spend more time–and relax and enjoy it!!–with both of my girls. Thanks for the inspiration!
Oh, my action was not only waking up on time, it was getting some good focused prayer time first thing. Why do I always think sleeping is better??
I made a menu plan and am doing much better sticking to it.
I started making a special Sunday morning breakfast for my family to start Lord’s Day off right.
I took action this week!
My action was getting up at 5:30, reading my Bible, praying and doing some chores and being showered and dressed before we started school at 8am! Yeah! Thanks for the inspiration!

I took a sabbath rest yesterday! Hopefully the beginning of a practice our family will stick to!

I made a meal plan…and have hopes to act in some other areas later 🙂

I took action this week!!!
Yesterday, I made my weekly meal plan and did my grocery shopping. So, now our fridge is stocked and we are ready for whatever may come our way this week!
I took action!
I started working out in the morning – now, I only managed to actually get it done 2 of the last 7 days. But that’s 2 more days than I had done before, and I’m hoping to do better this week. 🙂
I took action! ~K
I got up (almost) unbearably early for worship and bible reading/prayer time. No better way to start the day! ~K

I took action this week!
I took action!
I woke up early and had quiet time in prayer and journaling. I also met my friend and we took turns watching each others’ kids while the other ran!
I created a meal plan, typed up all my AM/PM routines, and my homeschool schedule, and put them all in the SAME notebook! (It’s bright orange; I hope I don’t lose it!) An encouraging quote is on the front cover: ” And when you have finished your daily task, go to sleep in peace. God is awake. ” -Victor Hugo
I also scheduled a one-on-one kids in nature class with my elder son. Looking forward to it.
I took action.
I made a meal plan!
I got up before my kids 3 days last week. Had hoped to do better than that, but my precious 17mo old is teething and kept me up VERY late several nights last week. I was up at 6:30 this morning and had my quiet time with the Lord! It makes my days sooo much better when I get this time before the kids wake up. I also menu planned and grocery shopped today!
I am currently reading “The Mission of Motherhood” and would LOVE to read “The Ministry of Motherhood”. Glad you had an awesome time at the conference!
I got out of bed before my kids this week. It’s a beginning. Looks like a book I should read.
I took action this week!
I made a meal plan & stuck to it 3 days last week! Hoping for a better week this week…our family took turns with a stomach bug last week so chicken soup & applesauce was on the menu much of the time. Thanks for the encouragement!

I made a meal plan and stuck to it AND I am reading my Bible daily.

I got up before the kids!
I took action, even though on some days I was totally missing in action. Lord help me. I got up before the kids, read the new testament part from my One Year Bible and asked Him that the words I’ll need for *today* will be written on my heart…because there’s no way I was going to remember all the verses I highlighted, which were a lot.
I took action this week!
I exercised and then took my boys to meet their daddy for lunch today. How fun!
I took action this week!
I played outside with my boys several times, and completed their first homeschool workbook! Oh, and I kissed them lots and hugged even more. 🙂

I took action by taking a class that will help us heal hurting children form foster youth. Each class is one step closer to allowing us to redeem a sibling set from the broken system and into a home full of love, grace and security. I used to be in foster care and have broken the cycle of generation drug addiction and abuse. I get to join Jesus in setting others free and adopting them into a family like my Heavenly Father adopted me. I may not be able to help all 153 million orphans but I can like a good Samaritan ” stop for the one.” I also get to encourage and inspire others daily to practice “Pure Religion ” James 1:27 style looking after orphans and widows. 😉
I took action!
This week for the first time I committed to getting up @ 5:30 each morning, having my quiet time with the LORD, focused time of prayer and then planning for the day: Tasks, Events, Dinner, Prayer focus that I wanted to keep in mind, etc… I planned a menu for the week and actually STUCK TO IT! and made my shopping list on Monday morning and ONLY purchased the things ON my list (with maybe two extra exceptions that I just couldn’t walk past!)

Had an awesome time at our church events this weekend. 25 hours of Prayer on Friday and Night of Worship on Saturday. After an hour of uninterrupted time with God on Friday I decided that God was calling me to the next level in my faith, and on Sunday I was baptized! Awesome, awesome weekend!

OK. I didn’t get up early (there was a thunderstorm and both kids were in our bed), I didn’t read my Bible (but I did read the story of Joshua & Jericho from 3 different Bible story books today) and I didn’t exercise (but I did walk up and down the stairs to the kids’ rooms about 450 times). I just wanted to say I can’t wait to hear about Relevant! Wish I had been there to meet you face to face!

I planned a special evening of one-on-one time with my oldest son. It was SO fun and he was so blessed. 🙂
I took action!
I got up early every morning last week and it has made me more productive and joyful. I even finally got around to cleaning out the car!
I took action!!!!!!!
I took action this week!
I actually had some “help” taking action, but I came home from a tiring day from school yesterday (a bit frazzled, mind you), and about an hour later, got a call from a dear friend at church who was going to stop by. She sat with the kids for a few minutes while I changed out of my “teacher clothes” and put on “mommy clothes” – a practice that I had started last year to help me refocus after teaching. I haven’t done it yet this year, though, and it was good do to so. I’m going to start doing it again, because it really does make a difference.
I took action this week! I got up early and began exercising. I have problems with my abdomen wall, and laziness just makes it worse. So this morning I decided to be ACTIVE in getting well, and worked out. I want this to grow into being a habit so that the next baby (if the Lord gives) will be followed by an easier recovery than this last one. 🙂 thanks for inspiring me 🙂
I took action this week
I made a menu plan and mostly did it

I rose at 630 each morning to have quiet/devotion time with the Lord!!
I took action this week! I spent my son’s whole morning nap in prayer. It was a long overdue date with God.
I took action this week!
I have been getting up early to read my Bible… on a reading plan to read it through in a year. It is so helpful to start the day this way. Otherwise, things get busy and I run out of time.
I took action this week!
I am re-teaching my 3 year old (and myself) the importance of rest and quiet time. she is now sitting in bed with a puzzle and a picture book and I am catching up on encouraging blogs and then reflecting/journaling. With 3 awesome kiddos (3 year old being the oldest) we easily work our day away and we all get overwhelmed with craziness. The quiet is so refreshing!
I took action this week – was given a bike and started riding again – for the first time since middle school!
Hey Kat,
It was so great meeting you live and in person at Relevant! I’m kicking myself for not getting this book of Sally’s there. But, I did take action this week so maybe I’ll win 🙂
Guess what? Random.org said you won! Send me your mailing address and I’ll get it out to you asap.
Kat
I have been continuing a consistent morning quiet time routine.

We posted about this giveaway at Winning Readings: http://winningreadings.blogspot.com/2010/10/ministry-of-motherhood.html
My husband and I took our 12 year old daughter out to lunch. Just the three of us, and she enjoyed having our undivided attention. I also took my 6 year old to the grocery store with me. Not much of a date but she loved being able to talk and talk and not be interrupted by her siblings!
(I couldn’t get this to post yesterday =) )
I took action!!
I cleaned up my Projects List!
I took action this week!
I was at the Relevant conference, too, and I learned alot about prioritizing. So this week, I’ve taken action by trying to organize my time better into a routine (as Crystal Paine suggested with time budgeting), as well as limiting my computer time.

I spent time with the Lord and in His Word!
I took action this week!
I finally started attacking some of the last boxes we have to unpack from our move 3 weeks ago! Also, I’ve been intentionally slowing down to take time for prayer, instead of rushing through it while I’m doing other things and getting distracted.
I took action this week!
Got up into the attic to get the rest of my fall stuff, since hubby hasn’t been able to get to it. First time up in the attic, so it was a huge thing, lol. I also have been exercising all week, yeah!
Ooh, count me in! We just finished reading The Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson at my Monday night Bible Study group and I LOVED it! There’s talk about doing this book later this year too 😉
So, I took action this week!
My action is pretty simple: having a new baby around the house (5½ weeks..!), my action is to slowly but surely work on getting back into a routine! I try to be gentle with myself, and work on one thing at a time – currently I’m working on integrating the sling more so I can do stuff with my 2.5 yrs while the baby sleeps between nursing sessions!

I just bought the book: “The Jesus Storybook Bible – Every Story Whispers His Name.” It’s fabulous! The stories are so beautifully written, I was in tears one night, the pictures are beautiful, and I love the theology!
