The posts by the Uganda bloggers last week were incredibly inspiring.
Many of us want to do more but aren’t sure how to squeeze another $32 out of our monthly budget. So we’ve come up with a list of 32 ways to save $32 a month.
Hopefully, you can utilize one or two of these ideas and be a child’s hero.
The List
1. Downsize from premium cable to basic cable.
2. Cancel cable altogether.
3. Cancel your home phone line and just use your cell phone.
4. Use the library instead of buying books.
5. Carpool to work and save gas money.
6. Use refillable water bottles instead of buying bottled water.
7. Make your coffee at home rather than buying it at Starbucks.
8. Bring your lunch to work/school instead of eating out.

10. Split meals at restaurants.
11. Clip coupons.
12. Check out movies from the library instead of the video store.
13. Make a budget so that you know where all your money is (or should be) going. You’ll be surprised at how many incidental expenses you have.
14. Try store brand grocery items - they’re often just as good as the national brand.
15. Play board games at home instead of going out to the movies.

23. Shop for clothes at resale stores before you visit the mall.
24. If you have a family of 3-4 eating out just one less time per month will save about $32.
25. Bring snacks from home instead of hitting the vending machines at work.
26. Carry small snacks and bottles of water in the car so that you won’t visit the drive thru as often.
27. Cancel your texting or data plans on your cell phone bill.
28. Cancel your gym membership and run, walk or bike instead.
29. Consolidate your debt and reduce your interest payments
30. Plan to get out of debt completely.
31. Turn off your AC/heat when you’re not at home.
32. Open an interest bearing savings account.
Any other ideas?
Brainstorm ways that you can save $32 a month

- Get magazine subscriptions for magazines you routinely buy off the newsstand. You have to pay up front of course, but in the long run you save a lot of money on most magazines. Most of my 12-month subscriptions cost about what 2 or 3 newsstand issues would have cost me.
- To continue with #23, big box retailers like Target and Wal-mart ALWAYS have a clearance rack in most clothing departments. This is especially useful if you have a baby who will be growing out of stuff fast.
- Be healthy!! Good health will save you lots of money overall.
- Learn to sew and patch clothing that gets worn out. I save lots of money on jeans this way.
- Keep your tires aired up properly and you can save on gas.
