By December 9, 2013Podcast

candace-cameron-bure-red-carpet.jpgIn this episode of the Inspired To Action podcast, we are chatting with Candace Cameron Bure.

Today, Candace and I talk about:

  • the holidays, how to keep ALL. THE. THINGS. from overwhelming us
  • how we can make some simple changes for a healthier New Year.

Candace is a wife, mother, actress (her latest movie “Let it Snow” premiered Nov. 30, but you probably remember her as DJ Tanner from the hit TV series Full House), and a NYT bestselling author.

Most recently, she is the host of the UP Network’s KLOVE Christmas Special which airs tonight, December 9th. This music special features artists like TobyMac, Mandisa, The Newsboys, Kari Jobe, David Crowder and more.

Being the music nerd that I am, I always LOVED Christmas specials when I was growing up. Maybe you’ll remember my favorite one that I mention in this episode.

Do you have a favorite Christmas album? Click here to share it in the comments. (I’ll share mine there too.

If you’re new to podcasts, think of them like little radio shows that you can listen to at your convenience. They are perfect to listen to and learn from as you workout, fold laundry, wash dishes or conquer the world.

1. Listen right here on the blog. Click through to the site and click the little play button at the beginning of this post.
2. Listen on your smartphone, iPad or iPod Touch – There are a lot of great podcasting apps. Apple has a free one in the app store, but I like one called Downcast. It allows me to search for shows, subscribe to them and even speed up the audio.
3. Subscribe to the Podcast – just click here to access the podcast in iTunes. You can also search for it on your smartphone app (like the ones listed above) and subscribe.

My favorite Christmas album is Amy Grant’s Christmas, followed by all other Amy Grant Christmas albums…they just bring back so many holiday memories. After that, I love Sarah McLachlan’s Christmas songs and I really like Leigh Nash’s version of Hard Candy Christmas. I once heard CeCe WInans sing O Holy Night live at a concert. Blew my socks off.

    • Morgan says:

I used to LOVE the amy grant christmas special, too! “Another tender Tennessee Christmas, is the only Christmas for me…” Thanks for another great episode 😉

  • Okay…so I loved this! I was just thinking about doing a little series on being content during the holidays because I know social media can really put a lot of pressure on women. Especially on wives and mothers. With us expecting our first daughter in about three weeks, I kept feeling she had to have this picture perfect nursery; nope, finally got over that. She just needs to be loved and know that God loves her. I refuse to send one Christmas card or hand one light because I just want us to stay focused on Christ.

Oh…and my fav Christmas song is also O’ Holy Night. A friend of mine sings it like you’d never believe. I also love Hallelujah by Barlow Girl. xoxo

    • Kat says:

Good for you Ashley! Sounds like you’ll be busy enough this holiday. What a precious time for you. Congratulations!

And I’ll definitely have to check out Hallelujah by Barlow Girl.

  • Kat says:

Oh, and Welcome to Our World by Chris Rice is another absolute favorite!

I was totally thinking about the Pinterest perfect thing today and how we compare ourselves to thousands or millions of other people now than before social media, etc…but I have to support Pinterest because my friends work there. :p I’m pinning this podcast! hehe

Candace might know Wendy Cox Hagen (who you need to do a podcast with!!!), but she came to talk to our MOPS group, and how people will know who we are (ADD or OCD) by the way we decorate the tree. We got our first tree this year and I seriously thought I would care where the ornaments were placed, but the girls put them wherever and I’m fine, and not sneaking to the living room in the middle of the night to fix the tree. :p

Yes, thank you for bringing up the serving size and portions at restaurants…people think I’m crazy when I tell them they are eating their week’s worth (or more!) of meat when they eat at a steakhouse. And we also eat from smaller plates as well. But man, food is so good. :p

Love God Day! So good. Always good stuff on I2A. 🙂 Thanks Candace and Kat!
