MomHeart Conference Ticket Giveaway!

By November 27, 2012General

I’ve written a lot about the importance of a yearly retreat for moms – the power of taking time to reset, refocus and get fresh vision.

The first couple of years that I took a retreat, I just did this in my hometown at a local hotel or bed and breakfast. But the last two years, I’ve attended a conference that my favorite motherhood author, Sally Clarkson, created for moms with that exact purpose in mind.

Here is what Sally has to say about the conference:

Motherhood is daunting. It is also delightful, fulfilling, and rewarding, but it can be daunting.

There are times in every mother’s life when the less-wonderful aspects of motherhood can begin to feel like a wet, heavy blanket of desperation draped over your spirit. That’s why Sarah Mae and I wrote Desperate: Hope for the Mom Who Needs to Breathe, which inspired this year’s Mom Heart Conference theme, “I Take Hope ~ Moving through Desperate to Destiny.”

You need to take hope in the promises and truths of God to make it through those inevitable wet blanket days. That’s why I want every mother to return home from this conference with a heart full of hope. Not just a passing feeling, but a lasting conviction that God is living and active in you and your children. The kind of hope that will move you from desperate to destiny.

It will be a weekend of refreshment, inspiration, encouragement, and fellowship you will not want to miss. Join us!

I can’t recommend this conference highly enough. Each year, I have left feeling so encouraged and inspired.

I’ll be speaking at the Dallas event, so if you happen to come to that one, I’d love to meet you!

My friends Sarah Mae and Ruth Schwenk will be speaking at some of the events as well, so in addition to Sally’s amazing wisdom and inspiration, you’ll get some great perspective from mom’s in the trenches like you.

A Quick Story

Honestly, I truly can’t say enough about Sally. She’s a wonderful writer and a great speaker, but it’s her heart that shines through all her words and makes them come alive. I’ve gotten to know her over the last couple of years and her desire to encourage moms runs so deep.

She has pulled together her amazing friends, who often travel with her, and as a team they have become a constant source of encouragement and inspiration to me (I’m looking at you Sandra) and so many others.

As an example, when I spoke at the Allume Blog conference last month, just before my session as the attendees were filtering in and chatting with one another, I was trying to figure out a technical issue. I was standing at the podium, working with the sound guy and checking things out on my computer.

I knew that Sandra, Cherie and Ruth had come up and were standing around me, but I was so focused on trying to figure something out I wasn’t really paying attention.

Then I heard, “Well, let’s go ahead and pray for her.” They put their hands encouragingly on my shoulders and prayed that my words would encourage, inspire and bring glory to God. Then as quickly as they came, they left. They had specifically come simply to encourage and pray for me.

Sally has some precious friends who all have a heart to encourage moms like us. I can’t tell you how much that simple act meant to me. And so many times Sally has done the same thing.

This is such an incredible group of women, I hope you’ll come and join us and be a part of all God is doing in and through the hearts of moms.

Sally Clarkson is an amazing lady. As a pastor’s wife, homeschool mom, children’s ministry director….I find my life very full – as all moms do I’m sure. I can’t recall ever getting away to an event just for moms. I would love to be able to attend this event. It sounds amazing.

  • Avatar Jennifer says:

Years ago, when my children were younger, I attended Sally’s conferences and it renewed me as a mom, wife, and homeschool teacher. I vowed that I would go every year as a gift to myself and my family…but alas, it’s hard to find the money in a tight budget, so I haven’t been recently. As I enter a new stage of motherhood, with children spanning the grades from kindergarten to tenth grade, I find myself in need of hearing Sally’s encouraging words more than ever and to spend time with other moms! It would be such an incredible blessing to win a ticket and be able to attend the MomHeart Conference this year!

  • Avatar Angela Smith says:

I have only been to one mom conference/retreat about 7 years ago & it was very simple. But this is an idea I LOVE!! As a mom of 4 kids, I feel like I have sooooo much to learn from those who have already gone before me so learning from Sally Clarkson is a DREAM!! Thanks for the possibility!

I’ve always been a fan of retreat weekends…time to get away to reflect on God’s goodness, His purposes, His love, His people. I would love to be able to steal my friend away from work and life and have her come to this… You see, this year has been very difficult for my dear friend, a mom of two small boys. Her husband, their father died unexpectantly days after Christmas last year. As she grieves and works hard to be a single mom of two, she continues to draw near to Him. She’s an inspiration to me.

  • I vote for the mom above…Jen’s friend.
Wow…so so hard and what a gift for her to have a break and that kind of encouragement in the midst of so much heartache.

  • Avatar michele says:

It is cold, snowy and now raining today in our town of souderton, pa. Interestingly enough I thought, while shoveling this morning, “wow, this stuff is like a ‘heavy, wet blanket!'”
I then dropped the kindergarten off at school, put the toddler down for nap, assisted our ‘senior’ greyhound dog outside, picked up cheerios and legos off the floor, balanced our checkbook to see what kind of christmas budget a stay at home mom could create and then, I checked my email.
Once again the ‘heavy, wet blanket’ phrase appeared……..oh boy, do I get what mrs sally clarkson is referring too!
God has a way of sending of signs!! I believe we are so not in the trenches alone.

  • Avatar Lisa says:

Wow, thanks for the opportunity. I would love to attend.

  • Avatar Jess says:

I’ve heard so many wonderful things about the conference but have never had the chance to go. Hopefully this year will be the year.

Thanks so much for all the encouragement.

  • Avatar Mel says:

Laughing and nodding as I scroll through the massive list of comments. I wish we could ALL go because we all need this so badly! The blanket analogy resonated with me. It feels like cheating to try for this- I had a chance to visit a dear friend in a beautiful place already this year and came back refreshed. But, the conference closest to me is on my birthday, which will most likely be spent under the blanket otherwise. Persevering to type this comment despite the incessant chattering of the littlest in the family while suppressing the urge to scream. Have a blessed day ladies!

  • Avatar Elizabeth says:

Would love to go to this!

  • Avatar Karen says:

  • Avatar Kayln says:

Over the last year I have struggled with health issues. My 27 year old body seems to think I’m 87. My kids have been so patient and kind and compassionate, but it has taken so much of my drive to accomplish the day to day. A Mom Heart conference would be a much needed refresher! I will be looking into ticket prices! :))

  • Avatar Cherie Werner says:

Kat what an inspiration you are to so many. Hearing you speak last year was touching and I look forward to what God will put on your heart to share in Dallas this year.
