A Simple Opportunity to Take Action (and a Giveaway!)

By March 30, 2011General

Occasionally, I’ll be sharing opportunities for you to take action on behalf others. Today is one of those occasions.

I’m honored to share the story of a sweet family that has been inspired to action.

In Her Own Words: Danyel’s Story

Ever since my husband and I were dating, we talked about wanting to adopt a child. It was something God had placed in both our hearts long ago.

Not long after we became married, we felt led to join the United States Peace Corps, and were assigned to live and work in Santa Rita de Copan, Honduras.

During that time, we crossed paths with an orphaned child with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and, after much prayer, decided to make a push to bringing her home with us. Our efforts to do that were unsuccessful, but we came away with more resolve in our conviction to adopt an international child with special needs upon our return home.

We returned home, and had two wonderful boys. But God was still working on us regarding international special needs adoption.

That journey has brought us to where we are right now. We’re on the brink of finishing one chapter of our lives, and beginning another. God has blessed us with a little girl named, Siri.

Siri was born with a cleft palate and cleft lip, which was repaired in Thailand a few months ago. She’s about 16 months old, and, as her reports tell us, is quite a smiling, happy, little girl.

Our Chance To Take Action

Here’ is the exciting part. Danyel and her family get to meet Siri on Sunday. THIS SUNDAY. How cool is that?!

As many of you know, the whole adoption process has a lot of costs associated with it. Part of Danyel’s fundraising efforts have been selling these super cool t-shirts.

And, today, they’re giving one away!

(Aren’t Danyel’s boys adorable? What precious big brothers!)

You can help this sweet family just by entering the giveaway. To enter:
1. Share this post or Danyel’s Blog on Facebook, Twitter or whatever social media platform you use.

2. Then just comment here and let us know what you did. Easy!

Whether you want to win the shirt or not, a simple shout out on behalf of this sweet family could make a huge difference for them.

And if you are interested in purchasing one of these shirts, you can order them at Danyel’s blog.

I’m so excited to share this on Facebook. With three adopted siblings, I know well the blessing that God is bringing to these boys and their parents! So thrilled for them for Sunday. What a great fundraiser, too!

  • Great Post! 🙂

We are also in the process of international adoption (and most likely a cleft-affected child), so this post hit my heart for sure. I love the shirt – great idea!

My heart is with Danyel and her family as they prepare to meet their little treasure. 🙂

I shared on FB and Twitter.

Thank you all for your supportive comments and prayers! We are sitting at the airport waiting to board our flight.

I have to share with you what an amazing blessing God gave our family this morning. I have been SO dressed about leaving my boys for two weeks. Nit because I am worried about their care, but because two weeks is so long to be away from them. I have been suck about it.

God knew I was struggling and this morning blessed me with two very happy boys. Dale gave me a hug and a kiss and said ” yeah! next time I see you, you’ll have sissy!”. Music to my heart.

For those of you praying for us, please pray for Siri. We are so excited about meeting her, but I know it will be very stressful for her. A new mommy and daddy that look funny and speak strange and don’t understand her. Also, please pray for her foster Mom. I can’t imagine how hard it will be for her to let this sweet child go after raising her for 16 months.

Thanks aging for all of your support!

    Blessings! David and Danyel Anderson
