Because I Said So!
You hated hearing it growing up. You said you’d never say it.
But then you were tired and they talked back one too many times
…and you said it.
The infamous, reviled, yet oh-so-useful mother of all parental comebacks:
“Because I said so!”
Sometimes our kids can’t see past their own misfortune. Sometimes they are just too immature to understand. Sometimes they’re just stubborn and won’t listen to reason.
And so we resort to the final truth. We, the parents, the ultimate authority in that situation have declared it so.
And so it is.
BECAUSE I SAID SO!
There is no argument.
I Wonder…
I wonder if God is saying “Because I said so!” to us. When we can’t see past our own perceived misfortune, when we are too immature to understand, or when we are just too stubborn and won’t listen to reason.
Because *He* said so. This is who He says you are.
All your comebacks and arguments fall on deaf ears. He spoke the Earth into existence. He has the final word.
These things are true about you…
Because He Said So
1. You are incomprehensibly loved. (Romans 8:38-39)
Just as you are, more than you could ask or imagine, you are loved. No ifs, ands, buts, or maybe-when-I-finallys about it.
2. You are inherently valuable. (John 3:16)
Hold your head high. Pull your shoulders back. Pure heaven came to messy earth – for you.
3. You always have hope. (Acts 2:25-28)
His name is Redeemer. Nothing is too bad, too sad or too hard for Him to make new, fresh, right, holy. Nothing. No matter what you may feel or think. No one is beyond the grasp of the One who created him.
4. Hope always has you. (Zeph 3:17)
No matter how far away you might feel. The distance is yours, not His. He’s just waiting for you. He always has. He always will.
5. You have nothing to fear. (Psalm 23:4)
“Fear knocked at the door. Love answered; no one was there.” – Old English Proverb
6. You have a specific purpose. (Jeremiah 29:11)
Find Him and you’ll find it.
7. You have been equipped to fulfill that purpose. (2 Corinthians 9:8)
He didn’t just drop you and run and hope for the best. He is an ever faithful instructor, teacher and benefactor giving you all you need to do all He asks.
What truth do you need to believe today – just because He said so?

My husband just left for his first visit home to New Zealand in over 4 years. I am at home with our two girls (2 and 10 months) for the next 2 weeks on my own and I need to believe that I really can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and not throw myself a daily pity party. It certainly doesn’t help that it is dark/windy and rainy outside the last two days…I need to believe that Jesus is the joy of my soul, regardless of the outside world.
Katie – Oh, it’s never easy when the husband is away, especially with children as little as yours. One thing that always helped me when Jimmy was gone was to view it as a vacation. So I let some things go, we ate out more, we did more fun things – it helped us all be in a little better mood.
I’ll be praying for you. You can do it!!!
Thank you so much for this! I needed this reminder today. Blessings to you!
You’re welcome Karen!
I needed to hear all of these Truths. Thank you for the reminder;)
I’m glad it encouraged you Allison!
That I can cast all my care on him, because he cares for me. (I Peter 5:7) That is always a good one for me to remember.
Thank you for sharing those 7 wonderful truths!
Courtney,
That IS a good one. Isn’t it ironic how we WANT to cast our cares on Him, but somehow it’s so hard to actually, fully do?
I definitely needed to be reminded today that I have been equipped to do what he has purposed for me to do. Just had baby #3 two weeks ago and I’m feeling really overwhelmed.
This is great! I love all your posts. Thank you for your heart!
Well, thanks for your wonderful encouragement, Katie. It means a lot!
Lovely way to start my morning. Thank you for this, Kat!
You’re certainly welcome, Prerna! Have a lovely day!
Oh.my.word.
Tears in copious amounts. I needed it *all* but especially the “You have nothing to fear.” It has been an intense couple of weeks of prayer, and I needed to remember that His perfect love *drives out fear*.
And I might have to print the 7… those are bathroom-mirror-need-to-knows.
*Thank you, Kat*

You may have already seen it, but in case you haven’t… it’s one of my favorite posts I’ve written. Wish it was on my blog!
I needed to read this tonight and I’ve shared it on my Face book page because I so needed those words of wisdom. I’m in the middle of making some changes in my life as well as trying to work and get ready for Christmas so words of hope are very welcome!
Teresa,
Thanks for sharing it and thank you for letting me know it encouraged you!
Thank you, God, for Kat! Printing this one. Keep passing out those torches! You’re making a difference!
