GIVEAWAY!! Motivation Monday

By November 7, 2010General

Today is Motivation Monday! Tell us in the comments if you’ve taken action and get a chance to win today’s giveaway which is my last copy of Sheila Walsh’s book Beautiful Things Happen When a Woman Trusts God!

Get all the details at the end of the post and find out who won last week’s prize.

About The Book

In a remarkably transparent account, author and speaker Shelia Walsh opens wide her lifelong battle with trust and the moment-by-moment choices she made to follow where God led.

Shelia has lived a life ruled by “hidden places” of insecurity and brokenness and knows the overwhelming beauty of a life wholly handed over to Christ. As you encounter her struggles and triumphs, you also meet ten of the Bible’s transformed-Tabitha, David, Paul, and others-who teach us that in spite of overwhelming circumstances, just one trusting encounter with Christ sets beautiful things in motion.

Um. Her accent is just super cool….

I took action this weekend! I made a menu plan that covers all 3 meals, and wrote it in pencil so I can make changes if need be rather then get discouraged and just scrap it – good thing too, I forgot my husband had to work late one night!

I am also making plans to begin my morning devotional time again when I am over this yuck. And I need to make plan before I can take action! 🙂

I FINALLY tackled my closet, getting rid of what I don’t wear and getting it to where I can actually see what I own. It’s a tiny space, so it didn’t take long, but I had put it off for TOO long!

I took action this week! I signed up for Mealtime Makeover. Meal planning can take me *way* too long so I signed up, printed the lists, went shopping and made the first recipe all in one day. The first recipe was good and the best thing of all…I have a plan for the next few days. My Monday-Wednesdays are tight. I won’t need to go shopping until Thursday. It dawned on me that could be my “pattern”. Thursday shopping day, instead of mandatory Monday shopping because we have NO food. I’m thankful for this practical revelation!

  • Over the past few weeks, I have been writing out our goals for our family and for me personally! It helps to get them on paper and see them!!

  • I have a question that’s kind of bothered me- what time from does the Motivation giveaway entail? That Monday morning? The previous week? Since the last Motivation Monday giveaway ended? I love reading your blog and entering my two cents on Motivation Mondays, I’ve just always wondered about the time frame though?

  • I read my Bible and spent time with God this morning.

I took action this week! I got to just sit and watch the sunrise and listen to God reveal how He is like the sunrise after a long dark night, when he reveals the truth to my often darkened and imprisoned mind. Oh, how I love His light!

  • Avatar Ashley says:

Still going to the gym twice per week….and today I got up 30min early to plan the next few months. 🙂

  • I decided to see how much housework I could get done before I dropped off the kids at school. Surprisingly, I was able to wash all the dishes, clean up the kitchen, wash-dry-put away a load of laundry and drop off the recycling! Usually, I spend that time wandering around and making sure the kids are doing what they are supposed to (a.k.a. “nagging”). This was a much better use of my time and started my day off so nicely! 🙂

    I took action this week!

  • Avatar Laura L L says:

My action was to stop action. I realized between the added hours at my job and extra activities at church I was so tired I wasn’t getting up to spend time with the Lord. My spirit was facing Mal-nourishment. I decided to clear my schedule this week of all activities so I can get rested up and spend time with the King. So non-action becomes action!

Evidently, my babies decided to maximize their mornings as well. Ugh! The Little Lady started getting up an hour early–BEFORE the time change! Since the time change, she’s been rising and shining at 5:00 AM!
So, my action has had to be figuring out a way to maximize my own morning while baby is awake and chattering (SO happy at such a ridiculous hour!). I got up with her and let her play away with all Big Brother’s toys while I did my Bible study. It wasn’t much, but we were active!

This morning I took advantage of the time change to make getting up earlier much easier! I used to do better with waking up early, but somehow got out of the habit and for the last few months have struggled so hard with getting out of bed. The snooze button has been my friend. But no more! Since 7am is now 6am, it was much easier to roll out of bed at 6am. I folded a huge pile of clothes, read my Bible and prayed, did a very short exercise routine (similar to your push-ups/crunches/squats), and showered and got ready before my kids were out of their room.
My biggest question/problem – what do those with small houses do? I have a shoe-box of a house (that I love!), but because of how small it is, I don’t really have anywhere to go in the morning that doesn’t wake everybody else up. My husband is still asleep in our bedroom and the kitchen/livingroom is next to the girls’ room. I am super quiet and only turned on some very dim twinkly lights in the kitchen, but it was still enough for my girls to both wake up saying they saw light through the crack in their door and can they now get up please? Thankfully they went back to bed because that is way too early for them, but I wondered if anyone else had any tips? I want to get up early, but I can’t really accomplish much since I can’t turn any lights on without waking someone up!

I took action this week! I have started (as of yesterday!) to make a week plan. I have noticed that I just float through and get caught up in day to day things without doing the things that are MOST important to me. My week plan is day by day the things I want to accomplish, but they aren’t just the everyday tasks, now they include ‘have dianne over for coffee on thurs’ and ‘see if the new neighbor needs help moving more stuff on wed.’ and write and encouragement note to someone on friday’

I had always planned on doing missions overseas and due to health and out-of-the-blue things, I can not. I have decided I have to be deliberate or I am going to miss all of my chances here!
