Today is Motivation Monday! Tell us in the comments if you’ve taken action and get a chance to win today’s giveaway which is THREE copies of the brilliant Christmas album How Many Kings from the band Downhere!
Get all the details at the end of the post and find out who won last week’s prize.
Music of the Season
I love Christmas music. I love the style, the theme and the memories it stirs. When an artist can put a creative twist on the same old songs and yet keep the spirit of the music, well that’s just a gift in itself. Downhere does just that.
But it’s this song that I really love on the album. It’s like a Christmas / worship. Such goodness.

Check out the “instrument” Jeremy (the drummer) is playing in this video. Not what I expected when the camera man rounded the corner. And he looks so serious playing it. Cracks me up…

I took action! I got up when my hubby did to pack his lunch, pray with him before he left for work and spend time with God before my littles ones wake up … instead of staying in bed until my little ones wake up.

Hi, Kat,
I really love Christmas music, too! I love DownHere’s music, and the thoughts tied to the melody make it really good. Today I continued to write down in my journal the psalms–the 113th and 114th. The words from the psalms are rich, and I’m so happy to be inspired to know the Lord more! Today’s words that hit me the most were:
“Who is like the Lord our God, the One who sits enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth? He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; he seats them with princes, with the princes of their people. He settles the barren woman in her home as a happy mother of children. Praise the Lord.” (Ps. 113)

I have been praying for my husband and children using the prayer charts. I love them. They really help me focus down on one area for prayer for that day!
I challenged my teen group to get up this week the first time their alarm goes off or they are told it is time. That means I get up the first time my alarm goes off at 5. Today was great!

I started getting up after breastfeeding the twins at 6-ish instead of going back to bed till 9. At one time I needed all that sleep, but now it was starting to drag me down. For the past 4 days I have done my bible reading, a little yoga-which I have been saying I wanted to do for months now, eat and get dressed before the girls are ready for their second feeding. It is SO hard not to fall back into bed, but the pay-off has been big!
I took action today!
This is my second week of getting up at 6am and it is WONDERFUL! Okay, it doesn’t always feel wonderful, but I love the time to get my ducks in a row before my girls are up and ready to start the day. This morning I was up at 6, planned my day (things that need done and things I’d like to do with my kids for fun), read my Bible and prayed, worked on my verse memorization, did a quick 5 min. of exercise, and showered and got ready for the day.
I took action today.
I printed off a set of Bible memory verses from this site: http://www.hopeingod.org/resources/scripture-memory/fighter-verse-program and started working on #1!
I took ACTION today!!! 🙂
Got up before kiddos and had a *sweet* quiet time with the Lord! ALSO, had a whole bunch of friends over tonight — which was a goal, and while unexpected on a Monday, it was a spur of the moment, 5pm decision that’s already paying serious dividends with my kiddos! Yay for setting a goal — and then actually DOING it!

I ordered a nativity advent calendar and got the store that goes with the Noel Calendar (they don’t make it anymore). I’m excited to share the story of advent w/ my kids.

Still plugging away at my daily bible study homework. Finished reading Radical and blogged about my plan for growing in Jesus over the next year!
I took action…AGAIN! Fell off the getting up early bandwagon. ARGH. Started back at it, and it feels good. Well, not at 5:15am {and can I just ask why the time had to change?? so much for quiet ALONE time!}, but I get more done. I’m reading the Bible FIRST b/c I had been working out first…if the kiddos get up early, there goes my Bible time. Anywho, love Christmas music & the fabulous season that is just around the corner. Can’t wait to teach my girlies more about Jesus!
