Giveaway!! Motivation Monday – Because I Think We Need An Anthem…

By October 3, 2010General

Today is Motivation Monday! Tell us in the comments if you’ve taken action and get a chance to win today’s giveaway which is a copy of the CD Stories by Addison Road!

Addison Road has long been one of my favorite bands. I love their sound, lyrics, and heart. Lead singer, Jenny Simmons, has a brilliant blog, raw with honesty and hope. It’s one of my must reads.

And this cd is no less excellent. My girls and I love singing along. Loudly.

Get all the details at the end of the post and find out who won last week’s prize.

You Are A Change In The Making…

I’ve been blown away by your amazing response to Momiversity and the Maximize Your Mornings Challenge, and I keep thinking of this song by Addison Road. It describes our hearts well. We are a change in the making. And that is beautiful…

If you have trouble seeing the video, click here to view it on Youtube.

Doesn’t that song make a great anthem? Check out the lyrics at the end of this post. Love it!

Action Begets Action

Why do I want you to Twitter, Facebook, Blog or Comment about the actions you taken in the past couple of weeks? …because action begets action. The things you’ve done WILL inspire others. And, well, that’s kind of what this blog is all about.

Change in the Making Lyrics

There’s a better version of me
That I can’t quite see
But things are gonna change
Right now I’m a total mess and
Right now I’m completely incomplete
But things are gonna change
“Cause you’re not through with me yet

This is redemption’s story
With every step that I am taking
Every day, you’re chipping away
What I don’t need
This is me under construction
This is my pride being broken
And every day I’m closer to who I’m meant to be
I am a change in the making

Wish I could live more patiently
Wish I could give a little more of me
Without stopping to think twice
Wish I had faith like a little child
Wish I could walk a single mile
Without tripping on my own feet
But you’re not through with me yet

This is redemption’s story
With every step that I am taking
Every day, you’re chipping away
What I don’t need
This is me under construction
This is my pride being broken
And every day I’m closer to who I’m meant to be

From the dawn of history
You make new and you redeem
From a broken world to a broken heart
You finish what you start in everything

Like a river rolls into the sea
We’re not who we’re going to be
But things are going to change

I am living redemption’s story
With every step that I am taking
Every day, you’re chipping away
What I don’t need
This is me under construction
This is my pride being broken
And every day I’m closer to who I’m meant to be
I am a change in the making

I am a change in the making
I am not who I am gonna be
Moving closer to your glory

Taking inspiration from the photo-a-day blogs that many of my friends started last year, I started a prayer-a-day blog for myself. DH and also did a MAJOR rearrangement of our living and family rooms. I was finally able to create a reading nook for myself. I’ve got my bible, bible study notebook, and pen all set up and ready to go for the morning. Also looking forward to working through Maximizing Your Morning. Thanks so much for that resource and encouragement!

  • WOW! I learned of Maximize Your Mornings from a friend, and this week I recently took action- I fell in love with the format, the planning, and especially the focused and purposed time with the Lord in the early morning. I have newborn twins and since my husband and I live part of the year overseas, our life is constantly in transition. This program gives me something solid and purposed to put under me at the beginning of the day, and steers me into my day to be a better Mama and wife. I love it so much I want to tell all my Mama friends! Thank you…

  • I took action this week!

  • The action I took was to read the parenting book I chose to study for Momiversity. I’m really finding that it is motivating me to prioritize what I’ve been wanting to do – read this book! Thanks so much!

The action I took was getting up early and planning out my day. I’ve got my menu plan all set and I am ready to face the week! I also scheduled in some time this week to sit down and intentionally teach my children so I don’t let the week just pass me by without accomplishing what’s important to me.

  • Avatar Amanda Dean says:

I woke up to an alarm clock today – the first time since my sweet son was born almost four months ago (yikes!). It was set for 7:30, which is not really early at all, but I’m proud of myself. ๐Ÿ™‚ He’s still waking at least three times at night, but as long as I’m in bed on time, I think I can do this!

  • Avatar Christi says:

Rather than jumping right into the endless list of chores that never goes away, I gathered and printed the blog pages that I have decided to read for Momiversity. One blog is Revive Our Hearts with Nancy Leigh DeMoss and the post series that I’m going to focus on is “First Things First”. Another blog that I plan to also read up on is Scream Free Parenting with Hal Runkel.

Thanks for providing a little internet spot to come, gather, and be motivated!

(BTW, love the sound and lyrics of Addison Road!)

  • Avatar Tammy says:

I’m doing the MYM challenge, and was up early to ready my Bible. I had my quiet time, but my kids woke up and I didn’t get my plan for the day done. Tomorrow I need to work on being up a little earlier. I am also reading “The Mission of Motherhood” by Sally Clarkson. Thanks Kat for the inspiration!

  • Avatar Leslie says:

    I took action this week!

  • Avatar Leslie says:

I took action by getting up before the kids(wasn’t really early b/c I was up most of the night with a sick one) but I did get my shower/dressed/prayed/read before they got up, instead of moaning about not getting any sleep all night and lounging on the computer all day!!

  • Avatar Jenna says:

I got up before my baby to read my Bible and pray… the exercise didn’t happen due to a 3-4am cuddle and comfort session with my sick little guy, so I only got up 30 min early instead and just used the time for reading and prayer.

  • Avatar daniella says:

Oh yes, that song did me good. Thanks, Kat! I’m glad I made a friend that responds better to the message of music more than preaching (or maybe I made that up in my head?). Once again, kindred spirit of mine you are indeed. Happy Monday!

P.S. I’m using morning naptime to read the Word (since waking up early failed…but hey, I’m a work in progress :-). Peace out.

I am still chipping away at getting up early for some quiet time! My goal is to get up just a little earlier gradually this month to include some morning exercise.
BTW, I just LOVE that song, and have played it SO MANY times to remind myself that I really am a change in the making. It doesn’t just happen over night, and that faithfulness to do what God is beckoning me to do, is what changes me (and HIS faithfulness to do what I cannot…which is A LOT!)

The action I took this morning was to get. out. of. bed. Which started with going to bed at a decent hour last night. It’s such a struggle for me. This morning when my alarm went off, I thought of MYM and “just get out of bed”. That was the nudge I needed to just do it.

My sister and I ran in our first 5K over the weekend! We ran it in 33 minutes! It felt so incredible to be accomplishing our goal! I got a call from her the other day and we are going to do another 5K on Saturday! I think we are both hooked on this running thing. I never liked running before this, but it brings me a sense of peace. To hear nothing but your feet hitting the pavement, it’s silence, achievement, my little slice of me time, it’s inspiring! : )
